Earth Hour highlights support for renewable energy

Did you know that Earth Hour started in Australia and is now embraced by the world?  Earth Hour and the World Wildlife Fund aim to “build a future in which people and nature thrive”.

On Saturday 23rd March, you can show your support for renewable energy by switching off your lights and power from 8.30-9.30pm. Follow this link for more information.

As an added incentive, Willoughby Council are offering the chance to win a 3kW solar PV system for their home. Additionally, the local government area that has the most pledges will win a 1.5kW solar PV system. Willoughby City Council is going to donate this system to a lucky resident! All you have to do is pledge to switch to GreenPower or let the Council know that you’ve already made the switch  at the Earth Hour website.

You can also enjoy a candlelit dinner at one of the participating restaurants on The Concourse, listen to wandering, acoustic musicians and keep your eye on the Urban Screen for some great videos to help you reduce your impacts at home and join in the countdown to Earth Hour. The screen and all non-essential lighting at The Concourse will be switched off at 8.30pm.
