Marathon auction sets Chatswood street record

By Robert McElhone

Wow – our Auction property at 28 Violet Street, Chatswood sold for $1,908,000 and set a street record!  The bidding at Saturday’s auction took more than an hour and reached $408,000 above the reserve.

Check out this link to the video presentation of the Auction.

Together with Cameron MacDonald of our office, Robert McElhone had more than 200 pre-auction inspections, issued 45 contracts and had 30 registered bidders on the auction day.

“It’s the biggest reserve and the longest auction I’ve had in my 25 years as a real estate agent,” Robert said.

The four bedroom home was built in the 1950’s on a former orchard.

This is the first time it has been on the market in 57 years!

Robert said the record price was due to the property’s proximity to the CBD, together with low stock levels, low interest rates and high demand for quality properties in the Chatswood area.

We are looking forward to a strong Spring selling season, right up to Christmas.

The story was featured on Channel 7 News on Saturday night, as well as an article in the Sun-Herald’s Domain section on Sunday 18 August.
